How to price your artwork
BLOG 013
An artist here in Timor-Leste, pointed me out this blog and article on pricing your art. It had some points of interest, but it is an over complicated piece, pricing an art work is no rocket science, focusing to much on emotions and unexperienced art behavior (as all artists experienced in their lives in the beginning), so I guess it is targeted on amateurs and starters, which is fine:

First thing is not 'the emotional attachment' difficulty, but ask yourself: if your up to selling an artwork, or not. If you create art works for sale, then you sell it or not. In the last case, if you are too emotional attached, don't sell it. If you sell art often, you know your price. Don't question it.
A question for an art work to buy from you, and you don't know a price, that means you are not prepared (and just say that, your are unexperienced, and don't know yet if it is up for sale, ask the commenter his/her/them/x contact details and respond later if you are more confident) and often are happening to amateurs or starters. Which is fine, because the line between professionals and amateurs in art is often vague.
When mention a price, always say it is up for negotiation, If someone finds it to high, ask what they have and/or want to spend on it, when it is way off, say respectfully that you recline.
This whole podcast is about lack of experience, to emotional attached and not having confidence. Thirdly, is this podcasts for starters or for all artists out there? I would stick for starters and amateurs, than prizing is not that complicated, if you can stay away from the emotional part.
From the moment you started making art you are investing. So, it is important is that the pricing of an artwork is giving you back more, than you invested in that single piece at least. Of course you should start talking with other artists and more experienced people about pricing, and make a price. There are counting models for this. If you sell to a stranger, your emotions are not important to that persons.
Challenges are for gamers and bored people, not for artists.
You can aske me for instance, I can give you some short answers, no games and I am working on a website for that: https://www.camiliointernationalartmanager.com/
