Timor-Leste's strugle for independence started long befor the 24 years of occupation by Indonesia, it started wit the occupation and colonisation by Portugal long before. Lot of countries let Timor-Leste down in the second world war, after 1945 and looked away when Indonesia invaded (1975) with the permission of the US! 

Black, Yellow and Red are the 3 colors on the Timorese flag, with a white star.
